User Reviews

Overall, users like the Pathfinder 2 for effective GPS performance and smartphone control, with real-time tracking. However, many report reliability issues: the e-fence malfunctioning after updates, frequent app crashes, blurry or outdated maps, slow collar-to-app connectivity, and cumbersome boundary editing. The core features work well, but reliability and UX need significant fixes.
Pros
  • Effective GPS collar system that meets training needs.
  • App enables controlling the device from a smartphone (no extra hardware).
  • Real-time tracking and boundary alerts via the app.
  • Beep feedback on the collar aids training.
Cons
  • EFence unreliability after updates: cannot activate, fails to recognize inside/outside, or resets to default.
  • App stability issues: frequent crashes, freezes, or unresponsive states.
  • Poor map quality and update problems: maps blurry, MapBox issues, not updating.
  • Collar-to-app connectivity/latency: slow to connect, dog location loads slowly, blue dot accuracy off.
  • Boundary editing is cumbersome: must erase/recreate maps to modify boundaries; sharing or modifying sections is difficult.

Decent product ruined by the fact that the tone noise your hounds hear is the same exact noise the yellow remote emits when it loses signal. Which happened all the time. Even if your dogs are next to you, no big deal, but why why why would you make that sound the same sound you train dogs with? I wish I could strangle whoever thought that was a good idea. Wish I could afford Garmin

The app is confusing to navigate for me, and it’s very disappointing you can’t at least make multiple e-fence boundaries and switch your active one. As far as I can tell, I have to re-create the boundary every time I want it in a different location.

I love the system. It’s been roughly 3 months of use daily and the collar is doing everything I wanted it to do. My boy is very adventurous and excitable with animals and other dogs. He is extremely friendly and wants to say hello to everyone and everything. When I initially did research I saw the other brand gps collars but didn’t like the idea of paying monthly fees. Then I found the pathfinder 2 and it was more than I could ask for. As a training only collar, I would not choose it, though now with the compass remote that is coming out, I suspect it would be incredible. The app works well and as intended, the gps collar does take a few minutes to connect in cloudy skies but so does anything with gps so I kind of expected that. The efence works well though as others have mentioned it’s kind of difficult to redraw your maps or change boundaries easily, as you have to basically erase the existing map to make a new one. I have trained My dog to recall to the beep. He does not like the vibrate which is what happens at the first boundary, if he goes beyond that it will give him a correction. My only complaint: I should’ve waited a couple months for the compass but unfortunately I had no clue it was coming. Wish I had known ! I’ll have to save up to get the connector at some point.
