GWENT: Rogue Mage delivers a rich single-player roguelike Gwent experience with Witcher lore, varied decks, puzzle-like bosses, and offline play. Players enjoy depth and challenge without freemium timers. However frequent crashes, progress-loss risks, RNG-heavy boss balance, no deck carryover, and UI/bug issues dampen the experience. Overall strong concept and story, but stability and progression design prevent it from fully shining.

Frequent crashes and stability issues across devices, including during boss encounters.
Progress/save issues: uninstall can erase progress and there is no cloud save or cross-device sync.
Bosses are RNG-heavy and unbalanced, making wins feel luck-based rather than skill-based.
No deck customization or carryover between runs; each run starts with a fixed starting deck.
UI/UX bugs and performance problems (e.g., visibility of turns, scrolling, dialogue glitches) especially on older devices.

Recent reviews

Player coming from Witcher 3, and the online gwent app, played other card games as well. To be fair the enemies are creative and pretty different. The problem is no way to modify your starting deck, so you replay over and over with a trash deck that you upgrade by winning. The boss are extremely unbalanced, you need to get god rolls to even have a slight chance of winning, oh and your reward? Start all over again with the same trash starting deck. Not worth.
