User Reviews
Pros
- Easy to use and convenient daily chore tracking.
- No ads and free unlimited use, including customized recurring tasks.
- Great for coordinating family or roommates with shared chores and rotation.
- Helpful reminders/alerts to keep chores on track.
- Free, flexible scheduling for recurring tasks that many competitors charge for.
Cons
- Sign-up/in issues block use (Apple ID/Google ID sign-in failures and account creation problems).
- Onboarding and family setup are confusing, especially across mixed devices with invites.
- Premium monetization is pushy, with pricing and feature gating.
- Rotation/assignment bugs: chores don't assign correctly, and thereโs no reliable history.
- Recurring tasks can disappear or fail to update due dates when not completed on time.

App consistently tries to force you to buy features. Then once you try to say โnoโ the UI doesnโt accept that for an answer.

I use Chap Premium, and I really wanted to like it. Our family setup is pretty common: parents use iPhones, and the kids share a Samsung Galaxy Tab, each with their own profile. From what I understand, the ideal flow should be simpleโฆ parents install the app, set up the family, and create kid accounts. But thatโs not what happens. You must not assume every kid in a family will have a phone, or access to parentsโ devices to access their accounts.
The actual setup process is confusing and unintuitive. Inviting users feels clunky, setting up the family structure is unclear, and thereโs very little guidance during key parts of the onboarding. And this is coming from someone who works in UI/UX design, so I can only imagine how much harder it would be for a non-technical parent.
Chap has a great concept, and I appreciate the focus on safety and privacy. But the user experience needs serious improvement, especially for families with mixed devices and shared tablets. Hoping to see updates soon that make the setup process match the simplicity that parents expect.
