Features & Capabilities

LapSnap connects directly to compatible AiM Solo 2, MyChron, GPS-enabled GoPro, and RaceBox Mini S devices, allowing racers to download sessions to their phone without extra equipment. Analyze every lap with detailed telemetry, including speed, acceleration, braking, throttle, RPM, gear changes, motorcycle lean angle, kart temperatures, and racing lines.

Compare laps with your best, ultimate, or another racer’s lap to identify opportunities for improvement. Review sessions, build an Ultimate Lap from your best sectors, access track leaderboards, and save vehicle setup details such as suspension, gearing, and tires. LapSnap helps drivers, motorcyclists, and kart racers turn track data into faster, more consistent laps.

User Reviews

LapSnap enables trackside analysis without a PC and offers WiFi syncing with AIM devices, but its value is hindered by internet dependence, inconsistent device pairing, slow downloads, and regression bugs after updates. Improvements in offline use, device stability, and update reliability would align with user expectations for a robust trackside tool.
Pros
  • Trackside data analysis and lap review without a laptop at the track.
  • PC-free data reviews at the track, enabling quick analysis without carrying a computer.
  • Wireless syncing with AIM devices (e.g., MyChron 5) via WiFi to pull data.
Cons
  • Requires constant internet connectivity; offline use is limited or nonfunctional, making track use frustrating where cell/service is poor.
  • Inconsistent and slow connections to AIM hardware (Solo 2 DL / MyChron), leading to long wait times or failed data downloads.
  • Session download is slow or unreliable (takes minutes per session, or hangs on refresh/open).
  • Bugs and reliability issues after updates (e.g., features not saving, deletion quirks, uploads broken).

No need to carry a windows laptop around as I normally use a Mac.

At least where I live, race tracks are far from civilization and have very bad connectivity. As such, the experience of using this app *at* the track, which is presumably its primary intended purpose, is quite frustrating because of its absolute dependence on continuous network connectivity. Worse, if cell service is so bad that the track provides WiFi, you can’t connect to it because your device is connected to your AiM system’s WiFi for downloading sessions. Nothing this app does actually requires a server - I would like to see a version of it that works fully offline.
