User Reviews

Users praise Collections Database for its powerful flexibility and cross-device iCloud sync without a subscription, enabling customized databases and data management across devices. It offers a solid one-time price, import/export options, and responsive support. However, recurring concerns include a steep learning curve and rough UX, lack of bulk editing or moving capabilities, thin documentation, and iCloud-only sync with limited sharing. Overall, it’s a capable tool best suited for users who can navigate its setup and workflow.
Pros
  • Cross-device sync via iCloud keeps data accessible on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with no ongoing subscription.
  • Extremely flexible and customizable; you can build custom databases, per-collection fields, and formulas.
  • One-time purchase price with no ads or subscription.
  • Responsive developer support; quick responses to questions.
  • Strong import/export capabilities, including CSV import.
Cons
  • Steep learning curve and rough UI; not intuitive for beginners and terms like Indexes vs Search vs Views can be confusing.
  • No bulk edit or move function; no multi-select; reorganizing large collections is tedious.
  • Documentation is thin; lack of a solid user guide and examples.
  • Sync is iCloud-only with limited sharing; this can limit collaboration or cross-platform workflows.

It took a little getting used to, but it really does stand out in that it provides a stable platform, all my data is readily accessible, it syncs perfectly, and it’s not subscription based!

This App is easy to use and works very well. I would like to make a suggestion though. It would be better if we could name Documents. A long list of Documents being all the same name makes it tough, even though the Search option is good for locating a Field.

Have been using this to store a couple of my collections with relatively complex schemas and summaries. By the time I hit 400ish entries in each, the thing slows to a crawl. On the order of 10+ seconds per click. I likely would have switched to something else already if I wasn’t already so invested. If I see a performance improvement in future I’ll adjust my review to match.
