Moxy is a small non-invasive sensor that athletes wear to measure muscle oxygenation levels in real time while they exercise. It is used to assess athletes’ physiology and to provide guidance for training intensity and duration in real time.

Moxy Portal is a training platform with three components: a mobile application, a data cloud, and an analysis webtool. The mobile application will run on phones or tablets. It will display and collect data from up to three Moxy sensors and one heart rate sensor using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The data cloud will be an online storage system for the data that will serve as a point to import and export data with third party platforms in the future. The webtool will allow users to share their data with friends and coaches and it will provide tools for analyzing the data.

Some context: I have 25+ years experience as a strength and conditioning specialist and 15+ as a sports physical therapist. I have access to basically any and all monitoring and training technologies for sports performance. The MOXY stands alone. Let me put it this way. If I was stranded on a desert island, and had to train an endurance athlete to win the Olympics to get off the island, and could bring only one piece of modern technology to connect to a working watch or phone, MOXY would be it. Not a HR monitor, not a power meter, not a GPS, not a portable VO2 max unit, not a lactate testing kit, not a core temperature monitor. Would I prefer all of them? Of course. But If I had to choose one the answer is clear. A MOXY. If you are someone who wants get the most out of your training, or your clients’, invest in the monitor (and I’d for sure grab the shorts too for ease of use), and simply start observing your current workouts. Be patient. It takes a little time to understand its MOXY’s true value, but it is well worth it. Stick with it. In the meantime, set a time to spend 10-15 minutes a day chipping away at the MOXY ebook and other excellent educational content on the MOXY website. In a week you will be intrigued. Curious. In month your will be enlightened. Aha! In a year you will be transformed. You will look at training differently for the rest of your life.
