Updated Evlo review - May 2026 As someone who has been an Evlo member for over 3 years, I’m taking a break to try another program. I’m not sure for how long, but it feels time to try something different for a bit. Here’s some thoughts as to why, and at the end I share some things that I still do really love about Evlo. Things to consider 1. While I love and appreciate Evlo’s philosophy, I need a break from hearing the same rhetoric. I feel like dr Shannon’s content has gotten more dogmatic in the past year, and feels less inclusive of other aspects of fitness (such as power, speed, agility) and all the instructors simply repeat what she says. I know it’s important to reach muscle failure, I miss the other education and cueing the classes used to provide 2. The volume for lower body isn’t feeling sufficient anymore as someone going on 3+ years of the program. It’s hard to reach failure in some of the core Evlo lower body exercises at home and sometimes you’re only getting 2 true working sets in a class (for instance, working bilaterally set one, right side set 2 and left side set 3). It’s hard to build strength and ‘get to failure’ with that amount of volume. For example, I use two 40 pound dumbbells (the largest weights I have at home) and cannot get to failure in a hip thrust at home anymore. I would love to see an ‘advanced’ track of some sort that may include more overall volume/reps/sets to account for challenges like these 3. I like to run and I’ve been dealing with Achilles tendinopathy - I know Evlo says calves are worked in hamstring curls, but I really feel calves deserve some dedicated teasing out for the purposes of power, lower leg strength and ankle stability in plyometrics/jumping in a well rounded strength program. They are a large muscle group. Similar feelings around adductors 4. I’m a comprehensively trained pilates instructor and would really love to see more inclusive core work. Our spines should be able to flex, extend, side bend and rotate. Focusing primarily on ball crunches to failure for core work leaves a lot lacking in overall core and spine health. If you look at the Pilates mat repertoire there are a lot of phenomenal exercises you can do at home for your abdominal canister that include more dynamic movements of the spine beyond a ball crunch 5. The nutrition content has not been updated or built upon in a while - for the price point of the app I would love refreshed recipes and education on a more regular basis 6. In general, I feel like I can, and should, be challenging myself and my fitness more than I can achieve through Evlo in this season of my life Things I continue to love 1. I’ve really been appreciating the meditations and love the huge bank available to us members 2. The warm ups and cool downs to class are amazing and feel so good and are really regulating 3. I love that you can just click play and hit your workout without thinking about it or relying on your own integrity to follow a written workout 4. I love being encouraged to modify as needed and the continued joint friendly exercise selection. As someone with a history of a major back injury this really helps me feel successful 5. The fitness industry is truly predatory towards women and I love the mindset shift this program encourages around honoring our bodies

This program helped me re connect to my core and safely enter working out again. Cueing is from a PT and so so helpful. If you are debating just do it!

I have been working out with Evlo for almost a year now. The programming helps me stay consistent, not feel burnt out and exhausted and I’m finally getting stronger. I enjoy the classes, and am learning so much about how to strength train!
