User Reviews

MacroFactor is praised for fast macro tracking, AI-assisted logging, adaptive weight-based targets, and solid meal-planning features with detailed nutrition data. However, users repeatedly cite pricing opacity, subscription/restore issues, data inaccuracies for scanned or restaurant items, limited international food coverage, and some UI/UX frictions. Overall, it’s powerful and helpful for consistency, but price-sensitive and data-accuracy dependent.
Pros
  • Fast and easy macro tracking with quick barcode scanning
  • AI-assisted logging (photo/description) that estimates calories and macros
  • Dynamic, auto-updating targets based on weight and intake (TDEE-based) to aid weight loss and maintenance
  • Meal planning and tracking features like saving/modifying/sharing recipes and logging meals
  • Rich, detailed nutrition information and breakdowns for better understanding of foods
Cons
  • Pricing and subscription model is not upfront; ongoing costs can be confusing
  • Subscription/restore purchases issues causing access problems or loops
  • Inaccurate or inconsistent nutrition data for scanned items and restaurant/menu foods
  • Limited international/non-American food database makes it hard to use abroad
  • UI/UX friction, such as inability to edit Quick Add entries and other data-entry nuisances

Been using MacroFactor for about 3 years now and it’s great. I use it religiously. It’s easy to use and has a decent list of food items but if it’s not there you can always add it yourself. I use the recipe builder a lot. You also have the option of setting your own macro goals or have the app do it for you depending on your fitness goals. Worth the annual fee in my opinion.

Absolute great app. Reads bar codes. AI, where you take a pic and it recognizes and fill in the nutrition data works spookily well. I tested it right after I got the app, and it recognized: “12 Mushroom and Prosciutto Pizza with Arugula”. Not kidding. One of the best specific uses of AI I’ve found. So: easily track your diet, and just eat based on the numbers. Very good interface. Use it once or twice and you’ll get it. SO worth the money if you’re serious about your health! Remember: It’s a lot easier to not eat a pound that it is to work it off in the gym.
