User Reviews

Players praise Medieval Merge for its gorgeous art, story, and satisfying merge gameplay that has kept them engaged for years. However, stability bugs (loading at 90%, data loss after updates), slow progression, and monetization changes (loot boxes, nerfed rewards, pay-to-win concerns) are frequent complaints. Additional pain points include energy/ads gating and AI-generated imagery in marketing. Overall, the core concept is beloved, but recent updates feel buggy and aggressively monetized, harming the experience for many players.
Pros
  • Stunning art/graphics with a polished 3D visual style
  • Engaging merge-based gameplay paired with a compelling story that keeps long-time players interested
  • Strong long-term appeal and continued enjoyment over years of play
  • Responsive customer support that can recover lost progress quickly
Cons
  • Frequent stability and progress issues: loading freezes at 90% and data loss after updates
  • Progression can be very slow and grindy, leading to a repetitive early-to-mid game feel
  • Monetization concerns: nerfed rewards, rise of loot boxes, and others causing pay-to-win impressions
  • Energy gating and heavy ad-watching requirements that disrupt play
  • Use of AI-generated imagery in ads/popups, which some players dislike

The game is fun but they used a lot of generative AI for their artwork. It doesn’t look great and the art is inconsistent. That’s the only downside to this game which is pretty sad because they had their own art and just switched over at some point.

I don’t remember if I’ve ever written a review for a game before but I wanted to for this one. I’ve been playing non stop for a very long time, I can’t even remember how long. Yes, you will have to be patient, especially for some quests with the highest level item from the generator. But it is nothing like those other merge or city build games where you have to wait 24 hours to even do anything to get closer to the goal after you run out of stamina or whatever. You could literally wait 10-15 minutes me have more to do. And once you finish a big quest like that it feels really good. And there are countless events that are fun and actually pertain to the lore of the world which is a huge reason I love this game. The lore. You’re actually in a story, you can visibly see what you’re rebuilding and working toward. It’s honestly just been so fun and I can’t wait to unlock more as I progress. Maybe one day I’ll finish the whole game. But until then, the journey is worth it.
