Users like the core idea of a phone-based ID and some find it handy for events, but reliability and adoption are major drawbacks. Recurrent API/scan errors, limited acceptance across venues and TSA, and Utah-only support significantly limit practical use. Some remain hopeful for broader adoption and better integration (e.g., wallet integration).

Cons

Frequent Facetec API / facial recognition errors block signup and verification (e.g., errors loading Facetec API).
Very limited real-world acceptance; few venues, airlines, or TSA accept it currently.
Utah license is the only supported state, limiting usefulness for most users.
Scanning/recognition reliability issues, with reports of timeouts or mismatches.

Recent reviews

While in Utah, using this app with Utah State ID nobody accepts it. The QR code never reads, I’m always denied. It’s really annoying. My guess is that if I ever get pulled over the cops won’t take this either. What a waste

When signing up, it asks to have my phone number and email verified. Verifying the phone number worked just fine, when verifying the email I kept getting a 401 error. Luckily, I could skip the email verification. But in order to share any information I have to pay for the subscription, that’s currently $1.99 per year. The nice thing is that they give you a 6 month free trial, I guess that would work in a pinch. But if you have your ID on you to sign up, you could just use the ID. The developer’s other mobile ID app doesn’t appear to have a subscription. And other states that have their own mobile ID apps don’t appear to have subscription costs either. This makes it seem like the subscription is coming from Utah.
