User Reviews

Dark City: London (F2P) delivers a long, story-driven puzzle adventure with solid visuals and satisfying HOPs, but recurring concerns center on monetization (diamond-based hints/skips) and difficult puzzles that often push players toward purchases. Some audio and stability issues dampen the experience. Overall, fans of the genre will appreciate the depth, but the paywall and balance between challenge and accessibility are notable drawbacks.
Pros
  • Engaging, lengthy, story-driven gameplay with a captivating plot and atmosphere.
  • Puzzles and hidden-object segments are enjoyable and generally approachable.
  • Strong production values: attractive visuals and atmosphere, with decent voice acting.
  • Free-to-play friendly feel with substantial content before paying.
Cons
  • Monetization gates progress through diamonds for hints and puzzle skips, with limited free rewards.
  • Puzzles can be very hard or opaque, and skipping without spending gems is often necessary or expensive.
  • Audio can be inconsistent (limited soundtrack; occasional sound glitches) and there are occasional technical hiccups.
  • Some players feel bonus content is paid/unnecessary or not worth the extra cost.

Such a great game. I don’t know how they keep making such unique plots and fun puzzles.

I did enjoy the game a lot, especially with how I enjoy playing these games. I lucked up with finding this after finishing a couple series from another developer, and glad I did. But I don’t like how everything cost so many diamonds. First, a hint is worth 3 and to skip puzzles is over 10/15 diamonds. And if we’re only going to start off with not merely enough diamonds, then I don’t think things should cost much diamonds. I only used diamonds once to skip a puzzle that just wasn’t letting me complete it (the lock to get get into the clock shop, I think?) and after that, that was it. And in the end, I didn’t even have enough diamonds to complete the bonus chapter. Which also isn’t fair, because why should we fork over diamonds just to play the content already in the game? I do not like that, especially when there’s no way to earn free diamonds. Not even an ad, you just have to spend your money and that’s not fair. Even with having the $1.99, I don’t want to spend my money just to play something that should be a free part of the game anyway. And this kind of puts me off to play any other game made by this developer
