The ABC Observation Made Easy app was created by a Licensed Educational Psychologist and School Psychologist from Santa Monica, California to simplify data collection, display presentation, and to improve data analysis.

This app can be used as a part of a functional behavior assessment (FBA), intervention progress monitoring system, behavior modification process, and is useful for behavior intervention plan (BIP) development and implementation.

Users can examine many dimensions of a behavior by simultaneously collecting frequency, duration, and ABC data over a single observation session or over multiple days. Results can be exported as raw data through a CSV file, as a frequency & duration chart, ABC bar graph, and/or as a completed ABC chart. Observation templates can be saved for future use and shared across multiple devices.

I like the idea of this app and after the learning curve- find it very useful. There are some strange bugs and quirks- I can’t restore purchases to access the plan I’ve subscribed to and it is too easy to delete data that won’t download or export.

Such a great and useful tool when needing to observe students in the classroom or in a social setting. You can export the data easily and in a way that is easily understandable to anyone who is trying to read your data (table, bar graph, or excel sheet)!

I saw someone talking about this app on Facebook and decided to try it. Turns out it’s very useful for all the functional behavior assessments I do. I store observation templates for different students on the app and as things come up I do a quick ABC observation on the behavior. I love the ABC chart the app creates and use it as my documentation. The notes feature is very helpful in keeping everything in one place. If I need to make some changes to the raw data, I export it to excel and do it from there. Also I just learned that the data time stamps through the CSV file, which really comes in handy.
