User Reviews

Users praise the camera-based, typing-free lookup and its usefulness for reading physical books, but reliability issues severely limit practical use. Key problems are inaccurate OCR, the inability to perform multiple lookups in one session, frequent crashes after the first word, and non-functional pronunciation. Addressing OCR accuracy, session stability, and audio features would substantially improve the experience.
Pros
  • Easy to use with a camera-based lookup; quick results and no typing required.
  • Helpful for reading physical books; scan text to get meanings instantly.
  • Very useful and lightweight—quick access during reading.
Cons
  • Word recognition is frequently inaccurate and misreads words (e.g., ischemic read as Ikhemk).
  • Only supports one lookup per app launch; you must close/reopen to search a new word.
  • Reliability issues: the app often stops working after the first lookup or becomes unresponsive.
  • Pronunciation/listening feature does not work for many users.

I’ve tried to love this app, I really have. But I’m deleting it after I post this. It does not recognize the words I want to look up. Ischemic is read as “Ikhemk” - that’s a challenging example but it IS a word in the Dictionary. The first problem is the app’s inability to read - and in turn define - words on a page. This is the point of the app! Regardless of what word it looks up, I get a misread or wrong answer. Maybe I get a definition for “should” or “disappear”, but beyond elementary English, it does not work. I have all necessary dictionaries turned on so that’s not the issue. The functionality of the app is also poor. There is no clear way to refresh and look up another word after a definition has been found! I have to close and re open the app to take another action. It’s a GREAT idea but the execution is flawed. Sorry!!!

This app is just so wonderful and simple to use, and it turns out to be super useful when reading hard books; all you do is point the camera at it and it gives you the meaning

I really like the idea of this app. It’s free and it makes it easy to quickly lookup a definition while reading and not have to take time to type out a word. As others have mentioned there does seem to be a bug where it will only work one time and then stops working. If you close and reopen the app you’ll get another one time use. For those are having this issue, I have found that while you are hovering over a word if you swipe left to delete a word from your previous list it will do a lookup on the new word. Not sure why this works but it’s a little better than having to restart the app each time.
