User Reviews

Notesnook is praised for its privacy, cross-platform syncing, and value, with an easy migration path from Evernote/Standard Notes. However, users report recurring login and sync problems, new paywalls on previously free features, and mixed support responsiveness. It remains lightweight and capable, but reliability and pricing changes are key concerns for paying users.
Pros
  • Privacy-first design with encryption and strong data protection.
  • Excellent cross-platform syncing across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, and Android.
  • Easy migration path from Evernote and Standard Notes thanks to built-in tools.
  • Affordable pricing with good value for the feature set.
Cons
  • Frequent login and syncing issues across devices, including long login waits and unreliable sync.
  • Paywalls and gating of features that were previously free (e.g., checklists) and the need to pay for essential functions.
  • Support responsiveness concerns (emails often unanswered; public responses without follow-up).
  • App lock and security features sometimes require payment and aren’t grandfathered for existing users.

i switched from google docs last year, and i tried a bunch of different apps. notesnook has really great support, the features are fantastic, and i haven’t lost any writing so far to server issues, which was a big problem for me before. i also like the year end word count feature, i didn’t know i was gonna get that and it was really cool!

05/21/2026 I’ve been using Notesnook for a year now and I feel like it’s the best privacy respecting notes taking application. It has all the features I need and anytime I notice any issue their support is quick to make the fix. Stability has always been good too. I use the iOS application and Windows application and both function the same. Initial: Been using for a couple of days now and so far everything has been great. Will add more to review as things come up.

The app is great when it works but there are many times when I am unable to login. The login screen just loads endlessly.
