User Reviews

VoCat is praised for its clean design, cute cat theme, offline access, flexible vocab organization, and memorization features like quizzes and dictation. Common requests include expanding offline dictionaries, improving cross-device syncing, and adding spaced repetition. Some users note occasional ad-related annoyances after updates, and others want more intuitive iconography.
Pros
  • Cute cat mascot and visuals that many users love.
  • Simple, clean, and easy-to-use interface.
  • Offline usability; works without Wi‑Fi.
  • Flexible organization with bookcases and topic-based vocab lists.
  • Quizzes and dictation features aid memorization.
Cons
  • Ads behavior can be intrusive or cause ad pages after updates, causing annoyance.
  • Desire for more offline dictionaries/languages (e.g., Spanish, Russian) to be downloadable offline.
  • Cross-device syncing is unclear or limited (questions about syncing between iPhone/iPad and Mac).
  • Lacks a built-in spaced repetition (SRS) algorithm mentioned by users.

This is truly amazing! I’m looking for an app can manually input vocabulary and create flash card. Accidentally came across this and it is perfect. Exactly what I need. And the interface is minimal with little distractions while being super cute.

This has been my absolute favorite app for learning! I like that you can separate your vocabularies into “bookcases” - I have separate cases for GRE words, French, and even philosophical concepts I’m in the process of learning. Additionally, the sync function is nice as I also use VoCat on my Mac. Quizzes and dictation features and top notch for memorization. Love!!
