User reviews largely condemn the July 2024 update: major usability regressions and reliability problems hinder emergency use. Rosters often fail to sync, verification is difficult, and drills are slowed by slow refreshes. Login/authentication friction is common, including Clever redirects that don’t return to the app. Several reviews describe a regression in functionality after updates, removing helpful features. Alarm and drill workflows are unclear, with false alarms and poor indicators of active alarms, especially across multiple sites. One clear positive note: once authorized, staff can be accounted for easily.

Roster syncing and verification problems: rosters often do not sync and there is no easy way to verify rosters; checking each student requires slow refreshes.
Reliability concerns during emergencies: the app can fail or be inconsistent during drills or real emergencies, hindering response.
Login and authentication friction: Clever authentication redirects to a browser and returning to the app does not log the user in; login processes are time-consuming.
Regression and loss of functionality after updates: updates have caused major usability regressions and removal of useful features.
Alarm/drill workflow and UI indicators are unclear: action items lack clear verbs, there are false alarms, and there is a lack of visual indicators for active alarms or drill status, especially across multiple sites.

Recent reviews

The siren went off at 1 am!! I’m guessing somebody accidentally activated the alarm or there was some sort of glitch. The app needs to be updated to have a time cutoff so this can’t happen. Additionally, it’s not very user friendly in a drill/real emergency. When the alarm is activated, you open the app and the top of the screen is slider to reactivate the alarm. Many have slid this by mistake and set it off again. Then, when you get to the roll call section, you have to refresh your screen to take roll, but there’s not a select all option. In updating the app in the future, please consider these things. 1. Out of school hours shut off 2. “I am safe” on the top of the page when you open app, not reactivate the alarm 3. Select all option for roll In a real emergency, I don’t think this app would be effective.
