User Reviews

Reviews show Starlink delivers fast rural internet and is easy to use, with strong use cases for off-grid setups. However, reliability can be intermittent, support is hard to reach, upfront costs are high, the app/UI has bugs, and delivery issues occur. Overall, the service is valued when it works but reliability and support concerns are common.
Pros
  • Fast, reliable internet in rural/remote areas, with some users noting it’s faster and more dependable than alternatives.
  • Easy-to-use app and setup with ongoing improvements and a straightforward hardware experience.
  • Strong suitability for off-grid/mobile use (boats, farms, hilltop locations) where other ISPs struggle.
  • Positive service and satisfaction when the system is functioning well.
Cons
  • Performance is inconsistent, with slow speeds or reliability issues at times (e.g., afternoon slowdowns, weather, or overhead satellites).
  • Customer support is often hard to reach and perceived as automation-first or unhelpful (robotic support, no direct phone access).
  • High upfront equipment costs and challenging refund/return policies.
  • App/UI bugs and update-related issues (persistent login pane, updates causing disconnections, missing features like a widget).
  • Delivery/order fulfillment problems and delays reported by some users.

I’ve been forced on my area to pay for Starlink. I get the same download speed at the highest tier, as the middle tiers. However they drop your connection way more if you don’t pay for the top tier. It’s a scam as I never get even close to 400MBPS they advertise.

I have owned this Gen 2 Starlink for over four years and only a few minor glitches along the way. Reliability and speed is excellent. The only complaint is that it’s not a true mesh system. I bought two extra routers thinking that they would link in series but they both connect to the main router. I have the 200 Mbs service and although the speed seldom goes that high it’s plenty for reliable streaming and large downloads.
