User Reviews

Overall, reviews praise Read4Me for natural-sounding voices and ease of use, with some noting a free option. The major downsides are a very expensive premium, a short free trial followed by around $50/month, and frequent reliability problems. Users report glitches, crashes, and unreliable reading (skipping words, starting at the wrong point). Some features seem gated behind the paid tier, making it feel unusable without paying. In short: excellent voice quality, but serious reliability and pricing concerns.
Pros
  • Natural-sounding, real voices with smooth delivery.
  • Free version option for at least some features.
  • Hands-free reading that helps with a busy life.
  • Simple, straightforward app design and easy to use.
Cons
  • Very expensive premium pricing (~$50/month) after a short free trial; many reviewers call it predatory.
  • Frequent glitches, freezes, and crashes; unreliable performance for longer reads.
  • Inconsistent reading quality (skips words, sometimes starts at the wrong point or cuts off).
  • Key features appear gated behind the paid tier; the app feels unusable without subscribing.
  • Some users report trouble attaching files or pasting text for reading.

I have found out using the Speechify App has all these features particular PDF reading, Microsoft Word reading as well as website links reading. I don't know which is the subscription price for the Speechify App but I would encourage this app to consider competition with other apps as part of pricing for monthly access beyond the trial period.
