Features & Capabilities

Home Photo Widget lets you import photos and create home screen widgets. You can import photos into folders, create a widget, edit its name and color, and adjust the photo center so the important part is shown in any size. You can import multiple photos and have multiple widgets in all three sizes.

The app also supports multi-photo widgets with timed rotations, mosaics (Mosaic and Free Mosaic), and the option to add a custom link to open photos or shortcuts. This is a one-person project; if you find a bug, please use the support link to send details.

User Reviews

Users praise Home Photo Widget for its simplicity and the ability to pick exact photos and display multiple images across several widgets at a reasonable price. However, recurring issues appear after updates: photos can disappear or become greyed out, image quality can degrade, the app may crash or fail to load photos, and there is a hard limit of two widgets. Some users report flickering or black-screen transitions between images. Overall, it's a strong, easy-to-use option for basic photo widgets, but reliability around updates is a concern.
Pros
  • Easy to use and set up
  • Lets you choose exactly which photos to display
  • Supports displaying multiple photos across multiple widgets
  • Reasonably priced / good value
  • Clean, straightforward design
Cons
  • Photos disappear or become greyed out after updates
  • Photo quality degrades to blur after updates
  • App crashes or won’t open / cannot upload photos after reinstall/update
  • Only two widgets allowed
  • Flickering or black-screen transitions between images

Have been using widgets on Android for many years and it's definitely much easier than on iOS. Also I know most of this is because of iOS and not the developer. I have been looking for a simple photo widget for my home screen and this was the best choice and the most reasonably priced. The only suggestion I would make is for the transition between photo changes, there should be an option to apply a time to all photos at once instead of individually.

The app was okay at first I got the iOS update. But when the app got updated recently my pictures were gone and I couldn’t get them on my Home Screen. Yet I only got some of them but not the ones that I wanted back on the Home Screen. So I try restarting my phone but it still didn’t have the original pictures on my Home Screen.

This was the first app I found when ios 14 came out and it was honestly the best. I have since told many about it and told them to download it. But recently my pictures all went grey with a message saying “Edit widget to choose a photo” but every time I choose the photo it does not work. Only 2 of my photos show and all of the rest give me that issue. I hope it gets fixed because I do not want to have to go find another widget app.
