User Reviews

unmemory stands out for its bold, unique text-scroll interface and multimedia clues, delivering an immersive, puzzle-driven experience with solid voice acting. Puzzles are varied and well-integrated with the story, showcasing strong originality. However, several drawbacks recur: some puzzles lack clear clues or can be brute-forced, audio/controls can misbehave, the ending feels unsatisfying or unresolved, and crashes or save-data loss interrupt progress on some devices. Overall it’s a memorable concept with standout moments but stability and clarity issues hold it back.
Pros
  • Unique text-scroll interface with hidden Easter eggs that adds novelty.
  • Puzzles are varied and well-integrated with the story and media.
  • Solid voice acting and immersive audio-visual presentation.
  • Overall originality and a standout concept for interactive fiction on mobile.
Cons
  • Some puzzles are not well-clued or brute-forcible; hints are often needed.
  • Audio/UI issues: audio can stutter or be inaudible; audio controls are unreliable.
  • Ending feels unsatisfying or unresolved compared to the story setup.
  • Crashes and save data loss on chapters, especially on older devices.
  • Interface can feel clunky and limited, with heavy reliance on swipes and non-intuitive interactions.

I hope more adventure games like this one get published. The story I didn’t care much for but the adventure aspect of it all and the puzzles were fun. The puzzles are intertwined with the story very well and are not too hard but still somewhat obtuse so it’s not too easy either. CONS: A couple of the puzzles were brute forcible; some of the buttons to play audio were spammable, so the audio would stutter over itself with multiple taps; An occasional typo which didn’t seem intentional; The in-game link to leave a review must be incorrect because the app store fails to direct to the page when that link is used; Only has swipe/manual scrolling; The ending of the story feels unintentionally comedic in a dark way that doesn’t quite match the vibe; You play a character but have no impact on the outcome of the story. PROS: Seemingly unique. This is the first game like this that I’ve ever run into; Has a few small easter eggs here and there add a kind of humor to the experience; Chapter elements are well synced; Additional media fits the aesthetic; Puzzles very well intertwined with the story and media. None of the cons are bad enough to destroy the overall experience.
