Features & Capabilities

OBS Blade is an unofficial, open-source companion app that lets you control OBS Studio from anywhere. Connect to a running OBS instance to manage your live stream without switching apps.

Features include start/stop, scene switching, item visibility, audio control, Twitch chat access, and live stats. It also saves past stream statistics for analysis and is actively developed with future plans like renaming/sorting scenes, exporting data, a soundboard, and possible Streamlabs integration. User Reviews

OBS Blade is praised as a stable, feature-rich OBS controller that boosts streaming efficiency and works well on Mac, often described as essential and free with optional extras. However, users repeatedly report connectivity problems (cannot connect, drops), unreliable auto-detection/QR/manual input, Windows/OBS compatibility issues, and occasional crashes on older devices. Overall, it works well when it connects, but reliability remains the main concern.
Pros
  • Stable, usable, and reasonably feature-complete despite the last update being years ago.
  • Greatly improves streaming workflow by letting you control scenes, transitions, and recordings from iPhone/iPad—essentially replacing a stream deck/hotkeys.
  • An essential tool for many setups and widely praised for enabling smoother streaming.
  • Free to use with optional paid enhancements (Blacksmith) and no mandatory paywall.
  • Good Mac support and broad platform applicability across setups.
Cons
  • Frequent connectivity failures: cannot connect or connections drop, requiring manual reconnect.
  • Auto-detection/QR code/manual input methods are unreliable or may not work as advertised.
  • Cross-platform compatibility issues, especially Windows OBS compatibility and port/password-related problems after updates.
  • Occasional crashes on older devices (e.g., older iPads).
  • Some reports of authentication/password errors when connecting to OBS.

This app is perfectly stable, usable, and reasonably feature-complete despite the fact that its last update was 3 years ago. Just goes to show you that newer isn’t necessarily better

App works for me. Connects to my OBS after I manually hit the connect button. It won’t stay connected though. It drops connection and totally shuts down after a while and I have to manually reconnect it again. Other than that, a good app that I use every time I stream.
