Features & Capabilities

POWERUP 4.0 is the smartest, most intuitive paper plane kit we’ve built. It lets you fly with ease and smoothness in a variety of conditions thanks to an onboard flight computer, a gyro, an accelerometer, and dual thrust-vectoring motors. Auto-loop lets you master tricks with a tap, while sharper turns and improved control come from the new propulsion and flight-assist features. Real-time analytics show heading, thrust level, and turning angles to help you learn aerodynamics in real time.

Night-time flying is easier with optional LED lights that illuminate your flight path. The design includes two rear wheels and a front wheel for stable takeoffs and landings, plus a foam-jet inspired by the F22 developed with FliteTest. Tilting your phone steers POWERUP 4.0, making aeronautics learning hands-on, allowing students to test designs, analyze results, and iterate toward smoother, longer flights.

User Reviews

Many reviews praise PowerUp 4.0 when it connects and flies well, and note durable hardware. However, recurring issues drive dissatisfaction: older model compatibility gaps (3.0/2.0) with the current app, persistent connectivity and UI bugs, and a lack of preferred flight controls (no joystick, reliance on accelerometer). Users want better prop replacement guidance and more robust support across updates. Despite bugs, some report quick fixes and responsive customer service that helps recover the experience.
Pros
  • When the app connects with the plane, users report strong flight performance and a capable control experience.
  • The hardware is durable and continues to fly after many incidents.
  • The app/firmware updates lead to quick bug fixes and improved experience.
  • Customer service responsiveness noted by users.
Cons
  • Incompatibility with older models (3.0/2.0) and removal of support in newer app.
  • Frequent app reliability and connectivity issues (unresponsive UI, connectivity problems, post-update issues).
  • Lack of physical flight control options (no joystick; controls rely on accelerometer) and requests for an on-screen flight stick.
  • Some users report planes failing to stay in the air or failing to fly at all.

I bought this plane and I was so excited fly it right away. I flew out of my yard. It went. It was twisting in the air. It was so cool right until it landed in my neighbor’s gutters and now I’m standing here, wondering how to get it down I tried, but it just it and it might even break so now I’m here just waiting for wind to knock it down but I don’t think that’s gonna happen until like when I’m it’s like 2 AM so I can’t really do anything
