User Reviews

Railstream offers many live rail cameras for railfans and can be entertaining, with free feeds available. However, reviews repeatedly flag intrusive ads, unreliable streams, and platform bugs (especially on iPad/Apple TV), along with requests for more camera locations. The core appeal is the railfanning experience and accessible free options, but ad-heavy viewing and inconsistent performance detract from some users’ satisfaction. Overall, strong concept with mixed execution: great when streams load smoothly, less satisfying when ads and glitches disrupt viewing.
Pros
  • Wide variety of live rail cameras provides a robust railfanning experience
  • Free cameras are available, giving access without a subscription
  • Entertaining and relaxing way to watch trains; fans enjoy the concept
  • Works on multiple devices (Roku/Apple TV) and can perform well when functioning
Cons
  • Excessive and intrusive ads in the free version; unskippable ads before cameras; some users report ads even with a subscription
  • Unreliable streams with cameras failing to load, freezing, glitches, or showing the wrong time
  • Platform-specific issues (iPad/Apple TV) with updates causing bugs or blank screens
  • Gaps in camera coverage; requests for more locations/cameras not currently available
  • Value concerns due to ads and perceived price; some feel the subscription is too expensive or not worth it given issues

Prior to and during Covid, this app was enjoyable for train enthusiast. You could watch train streams all day with no interruptions. Currently, however, it’s nothing but a cesspool of ads. Live stream cameras seem to buffer more so than not and ads interrupt train streams every 20 minutes. It’s annoying and unfortunate. Deleted the app.

I dont know how else to contact you guys, and this is my favorite train watching platform so I’m leaving 5 stars. Whenever I sign in and go to an engineer camera, it shows me the “purchase subscription” screen with no sign in option. It’s quite annoying and the conrail unit will be going by waldwick soon. Please fix this, thank you!
