User Reviews

Text to Speech PDF Reader helps with reading PDFs offline and can support study with simple use and decent AI voices, but users repeatedly report major issues: an expensive, hard-to-cancel subscription; robotic or incorrect voices that misread text; stability problems like crashes and playback stops; gaps in accessibility features (alt text, language handling, abbreviations); and occasional data loss or unreliable cropping/OCR. These recurring themes limit reliability despite potential usefulness for coursework.
Pros
  • Helpful for reading PDFs and studying; supports lectures and note-taking.
  • Keeps PDFs on device (offline use) for privacy.
  • Simple and easy to use.
  • AI-powered voices can be good and offer options.
  • Free version includes short, non-intrusive ads.
Cons
  • Expensive subscription with unclear ‘unlimited’ claims and difficulty quitting or uninstalling.
  • Voices are robotic/low quality and can misread, read backwards, or spell out letters.
  • Reliability issues: frequent crashes, playback stops, and unknown errors.
  • Gaps in accessibility/text handling: alt text is not read; language detection and abbreviations are poorly handled.
  • Data management/feature reliability problems: saved files can disappear; page-cropping/OCR and related features can be unreliable.

if you don’t get premium the voice is indecipherable and so robotic that it doesn’t even read words right. also not user friendly.
