User Reviews

Many reviews praise the NKJV app for readable Bible text, audio read-along, and a pleasant UI, but repeatedly cite ad clutter, unreliable audio, and data loss after updates as major drawbacks. Users complain about UX changes that remove or alter favored features and disrupt reading progress, with some noting incomplete ad removal even after paying for premium.
Pros
  • Good for reading the Bible with readable text and layout.
  • Audio read-along feature is appealing and a key reason some users download the app.
  • Visually appealing UI/design that makes reading pleasant.
  • Reading progress and bookmarks tracking is a valued feature for some users (before updates).
Cons
  • Ads are excessive and intrusive, interrupting reading; even users who paid for ad-free report ads returning or not being honored.
  • Audio issues persist across versions, including stopping mid-verse, robotic TTS, and loss of immersive audio options.
  • Updates often erase reading progress, bookmarks, and history, leaving users frustrated and starting over.
  • Update-driven UX changes remove or alter features (e.g., old audio styles, layout changes) and frustrate long-time users who preferred the previous version.

Bible has a lot of pop-up ads. I find it very annoying while you’re trying to read, and you keep having to look at short ads. Worst part is there’s a bunch of ads that just linger and change while you’re trying to read the Bible. And some are very explicit. Women in lingerie and very tight and revealing clothing. Very inappropriate for a Bible app. I just removed the app as well.

I was thinking this app would be perfect, but then in the middle of service I start getting loud advertising. Bad timing. You know if I like the app I will donate but don’t try to get money from me while I’m sitting quietly in church!
