User Reviews

MercuryGO promotes safer driving by tracking trips, providing a scoring history, and offering a passenger mode to avoid false positives. Users cite ease of use, clear feedback, and potential insurance discounts as key benefits. However, its reliability is a concern: speed-limit and speeding detections are frequently inaccurate, and phone-use detections can misfire when parked or as a passenger. Thresholds feel rigid, and constant background tracking raises privacy worries. Rideshare or bus trips can be misclassified as driving.
Pros
  • Helps focus on safe driving and reduces phone use while driving.
  • Provides a visual scoring/history to track driving improvement over time.
  • Potential auto insurance discounts for safe driving.
  • Easy to use and offers a set-it-and-forget-it experience.
  • Allows passenger mode to avoid false positives when not driving.
Cons
  • Inaccurate speed limit detection and speeding alerts, leading to false penalties.
  • Frequent false positives for phone usage and other non-driving activity (e.g., parked or passenger usage).
  • Rigid speed thresholds with little leeway and fixed 10 mph over triggers.
  • Privacy concerns due to constant background location tracking.
  • Misclassification of rideshare or bus trips as driving.

Good app, has made me more conscious of my speed and my phone use while driving. Concerns are; passengers using my phone, having to brake suddenly to avoid collision with deer or people that pull their vehicles into path and having to speed to complete a passing maneuver.

This app sucks. I have the location turned to ‘always on’ like it says it should be, but it notifies me constantly about it. The app also doesn’t look up to date. Don’t recommend.

There some times where it does not accurately capture the actual posted speed limit and causes you to appear to be speeding. Other times it captures you on a slower speed limit road rather than the higher speed limit road next to it that you’re actually traveling in causing you to appear excessively speeding.
