User Reviews

Overall, reviewers widely criticize Thirdfort for instability, unreliable identity checks, and concerning security practices. Many report crashes or errors across devices (even iPhone 14), with guidance from support that sometimes worsens problems or blocks accounts. The ID verification is frequently faulty: passport chip reading fails, driver license checks are buggy, and random rejections lack explanations. Privacy worries are common: phone-number-based security, intrusive Open Banking access, and data handling concerns. The UX is described as poorly designed and hard to correct mistakes; support is inconsistent, including non-functional data deletion and inconvenient re-invites. A poor KYC experience overall.
Pros
Cons
  • Frequent bugs and instability across devices leading to errors or crashes, with some users being blocked or forced to switch devices
  • ID verification reliability is poor: passport chip reading often fails, driver license recognition is buggy, and random rejections provide little explanation
  • Security and privacy concerns: heavy reliance on phone-number based verification, intrusive Open Banking access, and data handling fears
  • Poor user experience and design: confusing flow, inability to go back to edit details, and difficult-to-correct mistakes
  • Support quality issues: inconsistent guidance, non-working data deletion options, and processes that create re-invites or delays

Using it on an IPhone 14 and it just errors out. Thirdfort’s “solution” was to try another device

First of all, this app’s “security” is based entirely on your phone number, in other words no security at all, you’re just one SIM swap away from your account being compromised. Then they want to use the Open Banking APIs to plug directly into your bank. Not only is this grossly intrusive, but also reckless given the previous point. Finally they have a “Delete my data” button but it doesn’t actually do anything, as they are a data processor, not a controller, but they do not let the controller know of the data deletion request.

It never worked and the message doesn’t explain the issue. It can’t read the chip in the passport. Wasted way too much time with this app
