DNS Client: Lookup & Query Apple

DNS Client: Lookup & Query

Dig, NSLookup & DoH Resolver

Features & Capabilities

DNS Client is a fast, native way to run DNS lookups and debug Domain Name System queries — without the Terminal.

Type a domain, pick a record type, and read a clean, human-readable response. It works like dig or nslookup, but with a proper interface.

QUERY ANYTHING • All standard DNS record types (A, AAAA, MX, TXT, CNAME, NS, PTR, and more) • Reverse DNS lookups • Recursive queries, with full control over the request

ANY RESOLVER, ANY PROTOCOL • DNS over UDP, DNS over HTTPS (DoH), and DNS over TLS (DoT) • Query public resolvers (Google, Cloudflare, Quad9, OpenDNS…) or your own • Compare answers across resolvers to spot propagation differences

Built for developers and network engineers who need answers fast.

This application comes preloaded with more than a few DNS services (Google, Cloudflare, etc.). The user can also add additional DNS services with different options such as the IP, Name, Type (HTTPS, TCP,..). Very flexible indeed! Unfortunately, there is no option to modify a user added service once the add button is pressed. No editable text files with the info could be located either by this user. But there is an option to delete a user added service, so thats the trick right, just delete it and recreate it with new information = modify, right? Unfortunately this doesn't work and bombs the program immediately and brings up the ole 'crash report window' that gets sent to Apple, the developer, and all thier uncles of course. This was confirmed about 6/6 times on my M1 Macbook Pro. At least the 'reopen' button on the crash report window quickly reopened it each time. Bummer, but what did I expect? I got about 15 minutes out of this $0.99 app.
