FizziQ: Science Lab & Sensors

Measure, Analyze, Experiment

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Turn your iPhone or iPad into a science lab. Measure motion, sound, light and more with built-in or external sensors, and analyze data with FizziQ Cobalt.

FizziQ turns your iPhone or iPad into a complete science lab for physics experiments, sensor measurements, video motion analysis and data exploration. Use more than 50 scientific instruments and tools based on your device’s built-in sensors, camera and microphone, or connect compatible external sensors. Designed for science education, FizziQ helps students measure physical phenomena, collect experimental data, analyze results and carry out classroom investigations directly on their device.

MEASURE WITH YOUR PHONE OR TABLET Use FizziQ to measure and record: • Acceleration and motion • Rotation and orientation • Magnetic field • Air pressure • GPS position, speed and altitude • Light intensity and color • Sound level • Frequency and audio spectrum • Oscillograms • Time and events with experimental timers Compatible external sensors can also be connected, including FizziQ Connect and systems based on Arduino or micro.

MEASURE UP TO 4 VARIABLES AT ONCE With Multi mode, FizziQ can display and record up to four instruments simultaneously on the same time base. Students can compare several physical quantities during the same experiment and study relationships between motion, rotation, pressure, light, sound and other measurements.

VIDEO MOTION ANALYSIS FizziQ includes tools for kinematic analysis and video motion tracking. Track an object frame by frame and study position, trajectory, velocity and acceleration directly from a video.

ANALYZE EXPERIMENTAL DATA FizziQ includes a complete set of tools for analyzing experimental data directly on your device. Create spreadsheets, enter or import data tables, and use mathematical formulas to calculate new variables. Plot your data using different graph types, including time series and XY plots, and use tools such as zoom, statistics, histograms and curve comparison to explore your results. Measurements, tables and graphs are stored in the integrated science notebook and can be exported as images, PDF documents or CSV files for further analysis in Excel or other spreadsheet software. Most classroom data analysis can therefore be completed entirely within FizziQ.

SCIENCE ACTIVITIES AND QR CODES FizziQ includes guided activities and short experiments for science education. Activity QR codes can be scanned directly with the iPhone or iPad Camera app. FizziQ opens automatically on the corresponding activity and can prepare the required instrument or tool.

FIZZIQ + FIZZIQ WEB FizziQ on smartphones and tablets works together with FizziQ Web on computers. FizziQ Web provides tools for kinematics, audio experiments, data acquisition and physics simulations. A live broadcast feature, initially available in beta, also allows measurements made with FizziQ on a phone or tablet to be displayed and acquired in real time in FizziQ Web.

FREE AND DESIGNED FOR EDUCATION FizziQ is free, contains no advertising and is designed for science teaching and experimentation. From middle school to university, FizziQ can be used for physics experiments, STEM activities, laboratory work and inquiry-based science education.
