User Reviews

Users praise AppBlock as a strong, effective blocker that helps reduce screen time and improve productivity, often outperforming iOS defaults. However, multiple reviews cite a heavy paywall with limited free access, ongoing reliability bugs that affect blocking and timing, and occasional billing problems. These recurring issues create a mixed perception of value and stability despite the solid core functionality.
Pros
  • Reduces endless scrolling and screen time, helping users stay focused.
  • Powerful, feature-rich blocker that is often viewed as superior to iOS built-in options.
  • Perceived to boost productivity and help users set boundaries; professionally recommended by ADHD coach or similar guidance.
  • Widely regarded as one of the best app blockers for anyone trying to limit phone use and distractions.
Cons
  • Premium subscription required for most features; the free tier is very limited or useless.
  • Frequent reliability issues and bugs (crashes, blocking/unblocking delays, time tracking inaccuracies) that disrupt usage.
  • Billing and subscription problems (premium not recognized after purchase or subscriptions dropping) undermining perceived value.

The idea of this app is great, but it doesn’t always work very well. Sometimes things are supposed to be blocked are aren’t and sometimes the opposite.

Edit 2: the company conveniently can’t find the charge and Apple has no record of the charge. They told me, after I already told them Apple has no record of me being charged that I would have to report the issue to apple, which you can’t since there is no charge to report a problem to. Use at your own risk Edit: I was actually charged 3 times but only one of the charges stuck. I want my 21.95 back. Apple has NO record of the charges, NONE. Which tells me you all probably processed the fees in the name of Apple. Thinking it was a Apple Pay issue I tried again and was told it was denied but I was charged a 2nd time

While this app has been very helpful in forming a good routine and staying productive with adhd so I can’t hate too much but the price feels unreasonable for just taking away certain features if you could fully customize the message when you tried to open a blocked app like import a picture and better custom text and stuff additionally if it’s not already a feature and I just haven’t noticed maybe have similar pop ups when you’ve reached certain total number of screen time so like at an hour it will pop up to let you know to get off soon (also with the fully customizable pop ups as suggested before) then I would feel the price is understandable but in my opinion the way the app currently is just isn’t worth 30 per year or what ever it was per month there’s just not enough features if I hadn’t already purchased I would just use built in screen time features
