The app was valued as a reliable show/movie tracker with useful history and stats, but recent updates and price hikes have worsened usability. Users report slow performance, feature removals/limits, login/data issues, and poor support, leading many to abandon the app or turn to the web/ alternatives. The core tracking function remains the primary strength, but current changes undermine overall value.

i've used trakt since 2013. i had VIP for several of those years, when the features for free were well-rounded and a VIP account cost around $25 for an annual subscription. they have since paywalled most of the features including a meaningful watchlist (i haven't been able to add new items for several years because of this) and themed lists. now their newest iOS update hides your favorited services for where to watch behind a paywall. the new update is also extremely clunky and unpleasant to use compared to the previous formats. i wish companies would realize that unless they're already monopolizing an industry (think amazon or ebay), making the free version of your product unpleasant in an effort to drive people to subscriptions won't make customers stay on long-term. convenience is what leads me to purchase subscriptions to services and all trakt is doing is making itself deeply inconvenient.

Since I stream shows and movies 95% of the time, keeping track of what I’ve seen can be a challenge. This app solves that problem. Easy to track, love the calendar feature for upcoming stuff. I also track my library items under lists for things i own. I know that the web version handles owned items, but since the app does not, just makes things easier. Wish list: i have many lists for different purposes. I really wish when you add something to a list, the lists would appear in alphabetical order for ease of use. Thanks for considering my request!
