Overview

Features & Capabilities

Audio / Spectrum Analyzer is a real-time RTA that displays both the audio waveform and the amplitude spectrum from a microphone input. It supports simultaneous waveform and spectrum views, and offers configurable FFT sizes (1024, 2048, 4096, 8192), window functions, and frequency weighting (Flat, dBA, dBC). The spectrum can be shown on a linear or logarithmic X-axis, with peak hold and octave analysis to simplify monitoring across bands.

Beyond analysis, the extension includes signal generation (sine, triangle, square, saw) and noise generation (white, pink). Users can adjust layout options (waveform only, spectrum only, or both; portrait or landscape), choose background and waveform colors, and tweak display scales. Ads can be removed via in-app purchase. For users needing multiple audio sources, there is a link to the “Multiple Tone Generator” on the settings screen. Use case examples include audio testing, room analysis, and DSP experimentation in real time.

User Reviews

Users consistently praise Audio / Spectrum Analyzer for accurate measurements and reliable performance with rich customization, and they value the built‑in tone generator for audio work. However, recurring negatives relate to intrusive NSFW content in the UI (pornographic thumbnails/ads), concerns about battery drain and device heating, and limited Bluetooth headset support (AirPods) or related audio output issues. Overall, the app shows solid analytical capability but could improve content controls, resource usage, and input/output flexibility.
Pros
  • Very accurate measurements (high measurement accuracy).
  • Reliable performance with substantial customization.
  • Tone generator feature is useful for audio work.
Cons
  • NSFW content/ads in the UI (pornographic thumbnails and popups).
  • Significant battery drain and device overheating.
  • Lacks reliable AirPods support / AirPods disconnects or plays from the phone speaker.
