User Reviews

User reviews show a mix of praise and frustration. The app is valued for its researcher-focused features and helpful information, and some praise the UI as generally good and improving. However, repeated issues include slow performance and a clunky experience, unreliable journal recommendations, export/PDF problems, and UI gaps such as unclear sections and missing iPad rotation. Overall, the app has clear potential, but stability, content quality, and usability need substantial improvement.
Pros
  • Strong feature set for researchers, including topic/journal selection, multi-area focus, and OpenAccess options.
  • Helpful and informative content that can aid in building reading lists and finding relevant material.
  • Generally good UI with ongoing improvements and positive overall impressions.
Cons
  • Very slow performance and clunky UI, with choppy scrolling and a bloated backend.
  • Unreliable journal recommendations and poor relevance, including listing dubious publications.
  • Export and offline access issues, such as PDFs not downloading for offline use and long-running exports that can't be canceled.
  • UI/UX gaps and missing features, including a sloppy GUI, unclear sections, and lack of iPad screen rotation.

Great app for researching anything. Really great

It’s clunky and overpriced, imo. It’s not a bad app, but there’s are a confusing number of non-essential features that it is overwhelming to use. Most of the simple but most useful features (like “just-published”) are behind a paywall… and a 24-hr only free trial is wild.
