User Reviews

Users predominantly report that NYC School Bus is unreliable and hard to use. The top recurring issues are authentication problems (signing in repeatedly), inaccurate or stale bus location data, and very limited in-app support. The experience sometimes improves when drivers log in and data lists all students, but overall the app often fails with errors, delays, or missed updates, causing frustration and missed pickups. A few acknowledge the tracking feature exists and can work under ideal conditions.
Pros
  • Crucial tracking tool for parents to monitor their child’s bus ride (emphasized by at least one reviewer).
  • Works when the bus driver logs in and lists all students, providing usable tracking data in those cases.
  • Map-based bus tracking feature exists to visualize bus location and route (noting that it is part of the app’s functionality).
Cons
  • Frequent login/logout and authentication errors; users report having to sign in repeatedly and encountering repeated failures.
  • Inaccurate or non-updating bus location data; buses shown as at school or not updating, with GPS/map issues and hard-to-interpret maps.
  • Lack of in-app support or contact options; users are redirected to DOE or external sites and cannot easily reach the bus company or driver.
  • Dependency on the driver to log in or enable the app; if the driver doesn’t activate it, the data remains unavailable or offline.
  • General stability issues including endless loading, generic error messages, and timeouts that prevent normal use.

So we have the app on multiple devices so far only My Daughter can access the bus because she picks up her sibling but then I can’t access it when I need to when it’s my day receive my child. It wasn’t always like this please fix it. Update: it still shows it is at school because ????? It should show where it is at! Get it together!

The UX sucks. You have to login a bunch of times sometimes. Regularly it just doesn’t work at all. it spins while trying to see the tracking page. Under support it doesn’t have any way to contact the bus company or the driver. Also under support there’s no way to troubleshoot or open a ticket when it has bugs. One of the worst apps I’ve ever used.
