Review summary

Users praise CoughPro for real-time cough tracking, hourly graphs, and the ability to identify triggers and timing, plus a helpful bio-feedback loop. However, several reviews report reliability and stability problems—missed coughs and tracking that stops, along with inconsistent background updates. Usability gaps like lack of calibration, cough playback, and limited instructions are also noted. Overall, the app has strong tracking potential but is hampered by reliability and usability issues.
Pros
  • Real-time, continuous cough tracking with hourly graphs and clear insights.
  • Strong detection of cough events, including subtle coughs.
  • Helps identify triggers and timing of coughing via bio-feedback.
  • Non-intrusive and generally compatible with mobile use.
Cons
  • Reliability issues: coughs may fail to register and the app can stop tracking.
  • Background data updates are inconsistent and it’s not always clear whether the app is active.
  • Limited troubleshooting options: no calibration controls, no cough playback, and minimal user guidance.

2024-05-22 LE***** As an endurance athlete and, more recently, a person with lung disease, I have always tracked every possible health biometric I possibly can in order to determine my fitness and recovery. I recently found this CoughPro app and it is one of the best health related apps I’ve ever used. I downloaded the CoughPro app a week ago, and I have been very excited about the amount of information it has provided me. The reports are amazing and provide such clear insight. The app works on an iPhone, or an android device, and as long as the app is on it tracks anytime you cough as long as your phone is in the same room. The really excellent thing is it gives you a continuous graph throughout the day of the number of coughs you’ve had by the hour so that you know what times of day you cough most. What have I learned so far? I’ve learned that between 7 and 8 AM every morning , I have more coughs than any other time of day. And the time immediately after exercise, I have a significant number of coughs. It has made me more conscious of how and when I cough so that I don’t just “absentmindedly” hack away coughing—sort of oblivious to it, almost out of habit. I can look at the graph and see the results real time. This is actually giving me a good “bio-feedback loop”, so that I am much more conscious of the times I cough and as a result I’ve minimized and reduced my coughs as a result the awareness of being able to see the data. If any of you with have a lung or bronchial condition and live with someone who doesn’t have a lung disease, they probably get tired of hearing you cough all the time and likely worry about you. This app is a way for you to better manage that symptom, and there are no side effects. The wise old saying comes to mind: if you can’t measure it you can’t manage it. I highly recommend this app for you to try out, it’s one of the best I’ve found.

2022-08-17 Ma***** I’m sitting here with the app open, looking right at it and coughing yet it doesn’t register the coughs. I thought maybe i had to recalibrate it to better recognize my coughing sound but there seems to be no way to do that. So it basically does nothing.

2022-07-16 Ph***** Worked for a day then stopped completely. No way to reset. I turned off turned on force closed app rebooted phone. Nothing would get it to start tracking again. No way to go back to the start and record cough sample either. Further it kept turning in bedtime when I had turned it off.

2021-09-09 Om***** Their massive technobabble privacy policy is more mind numbing than that of Google’s and Facebook’s combined. It’s the typical tactic that insures that no one can possibly read through dozens of pages (printed out) nor begin to comprehend the meaning. I’m amazed that anyone would check the “I agree” box. No surprise, I suppose, given that the name of the company is Fastlane Global Marketing LLC. I’m not kidding!
