User Reviews

Overall, Speech Air is valued by some users for its usefulness and long-term reliability, but has persistent issues. After iOS 26.2, many voices change or disappear and some sound artificial, with occasional language/voice switching mid-use. A major complaint is the subscription-driven model, including upfront paywalls and weekly fees that deter trial usage. Reliability problems also recur, such as crashes, not finishing sentences, and playback interruptions. Despite these drawbacks, a subset of users continues to rely on it and appreciates its core text-to-speech functionality when it works.
Pros
  • Useful and versatile text-to-speech tool for reading text aloud.
  • Longstanding usefulness; many users have relied on it for years.
  • Positive user sentiment from some users (e.g., “Love it” and general usefulness).
Cons
  • Voice options change or disappear after iOS 26.2 updates; some voices sound artificial.
  • Heavy monetization: subscription required with weekly fees and a paywall that makes trial usage difficult.
  • Reliability issues: frequent crashes, stopping mid-sentence, and interruptions during playback.
  • Inconsistent language/voice switching during use, requiring manual re-selection and wasting time.

After the new ios26.2 update all of the voices have changed and I can no longer listen to the voice that I used to - Nicole. It’s extremely annoying because I got used to that voice and all of the others sound too fake or the tone sounds wrong. If there’s any fix I’d love to know it

2026: After the Apple software update of ios26.2 and the Apple being the most rest update the voices changed and the voice that I used to listen to disappeared. I believed the voice was ‘Aaron - English’ looking at the high definition and standard versions the name wasn’t there, which I was disappointed with. When trying the 3 day free trial version, there wasn’t any voice option that I liked so I don’t think I would use the paid version after the trail ends.😓 2025: I have used this app for a year, so and I have never experienced this issue till today. When I listen to the text I had pasted and fast forward a few times it just stops speaking, I had to restart the app in order for it continue the reading 🥲. The issue still persisted even though the app is in the most recent update and my device is in the most recent update.
