User Reviews
Pros
- Strong concept as a music-focused journaling/review platform (a Letterboxd-like space for music).
- Useful logging of listened albums with dates to track listening history.
- Solid list management and a 'listen later' feature for planning what to hear next.
- Social/writing aspect: ability to write reviews and engage with others' notes and discoveries.
Cons
- Server instability and frequent outages preventing logging, posting reviews, or using the app.
- Errors when rating or posting content, with new releases often inaccessible and some albums not appearing or loading.
- Login/account access issues, including failed reset emails and difficulty logging in.
- Poor performance and a clunky UI—laggy searches and slow loading degrade the experience.
- Data gaps and incomplete catalog (missing albums/artwork) and limited discovery due to missing entries.

I wanted to love Musicboard. The interface looks clean, and the idea of a "Letterboxd for music" is exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, the app fails at its most basic job: actually finding music.
Out of the first three albums I tried to log from my turntable, Musicboard completely failed to find two of them. It couldn't even find the bands that released them! If you listen to anything slightly niche, older, or underground—like 80s industrial noise rock—this app is practically useless.
To make matters worse, trying to manually add a missing album or artist to their database is an absolute nightmare. It is incredibly clunky, frustrating, and the furthest thing from user-friendly. I shouldn't have to jump through bureaucratic hoops just to log what's playing on my record player.
If you only listen to massive, mainstream artists, you might be fine. But if you have a diverse or deep-cut music taste, skip the headache and go elsewhere. Moving my diary to a platform that actually knows music.
And it keeps rejecting my request for the “pro” membership

Unfortunately the app is really bad in its current state and hasn’t seen improvement in the years I’ve used it. I’ve had the same issues since day one of not being able to load certain albums. If you are someone who likes to listen to “niche” music you’ll hate this app. Get used to seeing the same “you’re the first on musicboard to view this album! Please give us a moment to get all the information for you. It might take a few seconds to load.” Those few seconds never end. I’ve tried speaking with support numerous times and never received a single response. Truly unfortunate that an amazing idea for an app can’t live up to its potential.
