SPAN Home's iOS app provides rich energy data, circuit-level visibility, and solid integration with solar and Tesla Powerwalls, with an attractive data-heavy interface that helps users understand consumption and outages. However, reviews consistently cite reliability problems: data accuracy and freshness are inconsistent (solar/battery data can be wrong or hours out of date), frequent crashes or long load times, and intermittent connectivity during outages. Newer UI updates bury key controls and remove features, and multi-panel management is poorly supported.

Cons

Data accuracy and freshness are inconsistent; solar production and battery status are often wrong or hours out of date, and reports don’t always match other apps.
Reliability issues: the app frequently crashes, stalls on loading screens, or takes long to launch.
Connectivity/outage reliability: the app frequently loses connection to batteries and is unreliable during outages; support responses are slow.
UI/UX problems introduced by updates: critical controls are buried or hidden and some features were removed or simplified in newer versions.
Limited multi-panel support: cannot link or view two panels under one account; requires separate accounts/logins.

Recent reviews

Got a span 40 panel a year ago. For the most part it’s doing its job well. I use it in conjunction with Tesla Powerwall3. I like the backup flexibility it provides me turning some circuits off in a blackout to significantly increase my backup time . The app does need some more maturity especially around customization, how it handles data and robustness of connectivity. That’s it’s one weak point - its connectivity is a bit iffy.

For such an expensive panel, this app is surprisingly bad. Use for a minute and it freezes up. Tried it several times and each time it happens. And when it’s working, it’s slow. Please invest resources to fix it!
