BLEASS SampleWiz 2

By: BLEASS
Sample Synth by Jordan Rudess

Features & Capabilities

Sample-and-synthesis instrument with a granular engine envisioned by genius Keyboardist Jordan Rudess and engineered by BLEASS.

Born of the imagination of legendary keyboardist Jordan Rudess and the software engineering excellence of French audio developer BLEASS, SampleWiz 2 is a unique and powerful S&S (sample & synthesis) instrument. BLEASS SampleWiz 2 combines modern features such as granular and cloud sample engines, MPE, and iOS/desktop interoperability, with the satisfying, rapid workflow of classic hardware samplers.

Over a career spanning more than 40 years (and counting), Jordan Rudess has built a formidable reputation. His exquisite skills as a keyboardist have graced the recordings and tours of Dream Theater, David Bowie, Liquid Tension Experiment and Rod Morgenstein to name but a few. Jordan is also recognised as something of a savant in the world of sound design, and has collaborated over many years with synth manufacturers such as Korg, Moog and IK Multimedia. And as if that weren’t enough feathers for one cap, Jordan is a pioneer in the use of iOS in music creation and performance, and has worked on numerous groundbreaking music apps over the last decade, for example Geoshred and Morphwiz.

With SampleWiz 2, BLEASS has distilled the phenomenal breadth and depth of Jordan’s expertise and experience into an intuitive synthesizer that will unleash your sonic imagination, inspiring both your musical and sound design creativity.

With just a few swipes of your finger, or a couple of clicks of your mouse, you can easily capture any sound or import any sample – a few more swipes/clicks will transform your sound into a playable, characterful synth voice. And with full support for MPE Slide and Pressure, SampleWiz 2 allows you to create nuanced and deeply expressive performances.

With its unique iOS / desktop interoperability, BLEASS SampleWiz 2 fits in with your way of creating and performing too. You can capture and work on sounds whilst out-and-about using the iOS App or AUv3 plugin, then transfer your creation to your computer via AirPlay or iCloud where you can incorporate it into a bigger project. Conversely, you can take a favourite sound from your Windows or Mac computer and transfer it to your iPad or iPhone ready for use in a live performance, where you to take full advantage of the iOS version’s intuitive touch screen performance controls.

Creating original sounds with BLEASS SampleWiz 2 is as easy and fun as it is to load and play presets. The UI has been carefully designed to give a natural, intuitive workflow, with delightfully simple sampling or import of sounds, and a comprehensive suite of tools for chopping, granularizing, modulating, and adding effects to your sound designs.

User Reviews

BLEASS SampleWiz 2 is lauded for power and ease of use: deep sound-design capabilities, a consistent UI across Bleass apps, useful presets, and flexible sampling (including microphone input) that suits iOS workflows. However, reviews repeatedly flag stability issues (crashes, DAW glitches), missing advanced features (slice triggers, dual/split, modulation gaps), and cloud-only preset storage with occasional data problems. Some UI frictions and mixed developer responsiveness are noted. Overall, it’s a strong creative tool with room for reliability improvements and feature completeness.
Pros
  • Powerful, feature-rich sampler with versatile sound-design capabilities.
  • Intuitive, consistent UI that’s easy to learn and use across Bleass apps.
  • Valuable presets and strong overall value for money.
  • Flexible sampling workflows, including real-time manipulation and microphone sampling.
  • Supports creative exploration with convenient features like randomization.
Cons
  • Stability and reliability issues: startup/boot problems, crashes during use, and DAW/preset-loading bugs.
  • Missing advanced features and modulation gaps: no slice triggers, no dual/split programs, and limited modulation control.
  • Cloud-based preset storage with no local save option, leading to potential data loss and performance issues with large libraries.
  • UI/UX friction: save button usability and lack of visible imported sample file names, plus occasional sampling/Cubasis integration quirks.
  • Developer responsiveness concerns and inconsistent support.

I love it, but I wish I had a dual and a split program.

Great App! Great Support!

Bleass have developed a specific type of interface that they’re able to share to some degree between their apps. Learn one, and it’s simple, you were able to adapt to all the various synthesizers they make. SampleWiz 2 works with, samples and allows you to mess with them in musical, interesting ways. Some of the presets, which are very interesting to cost a little bit of money, but are well worth using. Because.Bleass has found away to simplify the synthesis process. You don’t waste your time. You’re actually able to figure things out fairly quickly and the design is simple enough so that you don’t waste a lot of time trying to figure things out which is a great thing. I find this synthesizer and Megalit offer a super wide attempt at sound programming that meet most people‘s needs I would imagine. For years, I was involved with various synthesize manufacturers, editing patches, occasionally advising, and reviewing. I don’t know how I missed. Bleass,s plug-ins but I’m glad I found them in 2024. fortunately, there are a lot of demonstrations available on YouTube. It is well worth your time if you’re thinking of getting one of these plug-ins because you can actually see how their programmed and here and I think that’s very important because it’s one of the downsides, in my opinion, of the Apple store’s way of working. Links are nice, but they should be live links so that you don’t have to try and copy and go to YouTube or wherever to check out what programs can do. If I were one of the creators, I would really push Apple to change this very simple concept. They’re Apple they should be able to accomplish such a thing. I admit, I avoided.Bleass initially because the interface seemed too colorful, and not necessarily professional, looking, imo. Taking a risk and having worked with several their programs I’ve got seven or eight at this point, I admit that my biases aren’t necessarily true although I would kill for a way of being able to change the interface in a way that would give me a little bit more enjoyment. But that’s me, really the interface is awesome and will be something you will appreciate if you’re coming from a lot of other virtual synths. Do not be like I was, it’s easy enough to find out how this stuff works do it because all honesty. Bleass products have saved me a ton of time in their interfaces simplicity when dealing with complex ideas. Well worth the purchase. I don’t mind that I have to put a little extra work because I’m cognitively different.
