User Reviews

Mastoot is praised for smooth performance, reliable cross-device sync, a polished native iOS feel, and strong multi-account support, often regarded as superior to the official Mastodon app. Common downsides focus on account-switching friction, missing features like visible pinned toots and boost controls, absence of gestures, and occasional service-specific issues or delays in posting/comments.
Pros
  • Smooth performance and scrolling with fewer crashes than the official Mastodon app
  • Cross-device timeline/read-position syncing across iPhone/iPad and other devices
  • Clean, native-feeling iOS UI that is easy to use and customize
  • Multi-account support for managing multiple timelines
  • Widely regarded as a top Mastodon client and often recommended over alternatives
Cons
  • Difficult/fragile account management UX – not easy to switch between accounts
  • Pinned toots are not easily visible or accessible
  • Lacks controls to turn off boosts or customize boost visibility
  • Lack of gestures (no swipe-back support) and related navigation conveniences
  • Intermittent integration issues with some federated services (e.g., Pawoo/Baraag) and occasional delays in posting/comment visibility

It’s better than the default mastodon app in some ways. Idk if it’s better. Does not crash when scrolling the feed like default app. That’s the reason why I use it.

I use Mastoot for pawoo and baraag but for some unknown reason it stopped using pawoo now it won’t even bring up other social media outlets that it supports. Although when I use pawoo through my main computer pawoo works fine, would not recommend.
