User Reviews

User reviews largely describe Bark Kids as a safety tool with clear privacy tradeoffs. Pros mention that it flags inappropriate content and alerts parents, and that it aims to protect kids online. However, most feedback centers on privacy concerns, with teens noting the app monitors messages and shares data. Additional recurring complaints include heavy battery drain, high data/slow performance, interference with normal phone use (blocked apps, limited social features), and constant location tracking. Some reports mention setup glitches and false positives. Overall, users see safety benefits but condemn privacy invasion and performance impact.
Pros
  • Alerts for flagged material and sites help keep kids safe.
  • Does what it promises in terms of safety functionality.
  • Protects kids from inappropriate content online.
  • Some reviews acknowledge it serves its safety purpose despite drawbacks.
Cons
  • Invasion of privacy due to monitoring of texts and data shared with parents.
  • Drains battery and uses data heavily, leading to poor battery life and data concerns.
  • Interferes with apps and blocks downloads, limiting normal phone use (social media, etc.).
  • Constant location tracking and GPS indicators raise privacy and battery concerns.
  • Frequent reliability issues such as setup errors, glitches, and inconsistent performance.

This app takes my Internet and it just sucks. It’s annoying when I look at my time and see blue outline around it and when I tap on it, it takes me to the app and stupid question.

When we finally managed to get rid of this from my phone. 1 star worst child “safety” app ever

So I’m a 13 year old and I have to say this app SUCKS and is SO BUGGY! Like my kindle and Amazon stopped working and I can’t search some websites (good websites not bad) and furthermore it completely destroys the kids relationship with the parents. When I got this app I was like fine whatever idc, but I still felt like my parents didn’t really trust me as much, and I fell like they need to let me make my own mistakes (again nothing bad) and trust me a little, if not any. In conclusion, this app not only made my relationship with my parents worse, but it also blocked some apps like Libby/kindle and Amazon and I don’t know why! If you are a parent, DO NOT GET THIS FOR YOUR KID! Also don’t ask me to “talk to my parents about it” because I’m not going to and I just feel untrusted and sad from this app, so please don’t get it. Also, if you have any thoughts or answers about the app situation with Amazon and stuff please help me out ( not even ChatGPT helps) 😒 thank you for listening!
