Features & Capabilities

Scout is a bicycle alarm and finder, designed to seamlessly integrate into Apple’s FindMy network of products, allowing you to keep track of your beloved bikes whereabouts, even when you’re not riding.

The lightweight, and low-profile SCOUT discretely and securely mounts to any water bottle cage using the security screws provided. Once armed (via the app or on the unit itself) any movement of a bike fitted with Scout will trigger the motion sensitive 85 db alarm alerting the owner.

If a Scout fitted bike is not where the owner last left it, then they can simply locate its position using Apple’s FindMy network.

The SCOUT is USB-C rechargeable and has a runtime of approximately 6 months with standard use. Riders can activate/deactivate the motion sensitive alarm, locate the device, and check the battery life, all through the Knog App.

Scout is the future of bike security.

User Reviews

Users generally praise the Knog Scout for functioning and FindMy integration, and view the hardware as clever. However, the app is plagued by reliability issues, including pairing freezes and disconnects, and the alarm is overly sensitive. Battery drain on iPhone and occasional device power issues are common complaints. Missing quick controls (shortcuts, widgets, Siri, Watch support) and the ability to share the device (multi-user) or maintain a robust range further dampen the experience. Overall, solid concept with a need for major app reliability and UX improvements.
Pros
  • Works as advertised and does the job.
  • FindMy integration with an onboard alarm is a major plus.
  • Clever hardware design with a solid device.
Cons
  • App instability and frequent connectivity issues (pairing problems, freezing, and disconnects).
  • Alarm sensitivity is too high and prone to false triggers, with limited explanation.
  • Significant battery drain on the iPhone (and reports of device battery issues).
  • Lack of quick controls (no shortcuts, widgets, Siri, or Apple Watch support).
  • Single-user limitation and limited range affect usability.

The app is functional and does the job. When I first got the device I had to charge it up - and was confused as to why I couldn’t discover it. You have to unplug and plug it back in and then search for it. If it’s sitting on the charger for half an hour and you try to discover the scout it won’t work. I do wish the alarm sensitivity slider was explained in more detail.

I really want this to be good. The tracker hardware is good, but the app leaves a lot to be desired. The sensitivity of the alarm is way too high even if it’s on its lowest sensitivity setting. Just touching the bike will set it off.

I feel like the reviews are not fair to the alarm and the app. Everything works pretty well, maybe arming and disarming could be a bit more accessible from the main screen but it’s not a big issue. Also just wanted to mention how cool and thoughtful the packaging design was for the hardware. Well done.
