Overview

Features & Capabilities

Al-Anon Family Groups offers a trusted mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by another's drinking. The mobile app brings the Al-Anon Twelve Steps, serenity prayers, and daily readings into your device, helping families and friends apply recovery principles one day at a time. Features include private chats, a built-in journal, a news feed, and a daily dose of experience, strength, and hope.

Meetings use HIPAA-compliant Zoom with enhanced security (no cloud recordings, chat encryption enforced, and encrypted end-points). The app also supports community connection, easy contributions to the World Service Office, and optional Premium content via an annual subscription.

So much support here

The app has serious issues that need to be addressed and have not - for years. If you want people to use your mobile app as intended, please make it mobile friendly. Or, simply allow folks to join in ways that work for them. I need to be able to leave the app while I’m in a meeting and not be kicked out of the meeting. Android users have the privilege of switching between apps during the meeting without being removed. Why is Apple different?? Every single time the clock changes in the US, the app crashes for a number of days. The chat disappears. People’s direct messages don’t go through. There’s a myriad of issues here that are never resolved. Some will cite “safety” as a concern when folks are entering the meetings via zoom. But “safety” is *not* addressed or taken seriously by the folks managing the app when an aggressive member makes threats of physical violence against other members and terrorizes the meeting spaces. There are real safety concerns that are much graver than a couple of people using zoom to access the meeting. The terms of service state that the app is for devices with access to the Apple App Store or Play Store. My laptop has the App Store - let me use my laptop, please.
