User Reviews

Reviews praise BlockIt for dramatically reducing social-media distractions by blocking feeds, comments, and recommendations, often reporting increased focus and productivity. The app's cross‑platform support (macOS and iOS) is highly valued. However, there is strong backlash over the shift from a one‑time purchase to a recurring subscription, with many calling it a bait‑and‑switch and unfair. Reliability also varies—some users report IG and Facebook story blocking failing after updates. Finally, while some users find the price worthwhile for the benefits, others feel the lack of a free tier and ongoing costs undermine the value.
Pros
  • Highly effective at blocking feeds and suggested content, dramatically reducing doomscrolling and boosting productivity.
  • Cross-platform support on macOS and iOS enables consistent blocking across devices.
  • Users consider the yearly fee worthwhile for the time and focus it saves.
  • Allows staying engaged with essential interactions while avoiding most distractions; described as life-changing by some.
Cons
  • Switch from a one-time purchase to a recurring subscription; seen as bait-and-switch and mistrustful.
  • Blocking reliability is inconsistent, especially for Instagram and Facebook stories; some sites don't get blocked as expected.
  • Licensing issues where previous lifetime access is revoked or charged again after upgrade.
  • No free tier or trial, making it hard to evaluate before paying.

This app changed my life. I am finally free from my social media addiction. I can go on Youtube and see ONLY my subscription feed, and watch a video and there are no comments or suggested videos. I can go on reddit ONLY for a post I found on google. If I do want to scroll, I can disable the blocks and then enable them again when I'm done.

I rarely give reviews on apps but I feel like this app truly deserves a good review. It has helped me curve my phone addiction so much and along with it my spending habit. I am a loyal user and I encourage everyone to try it. Great app and the value it provides is well worth the subscription.
