Features & Capabilities

Pantone Connect is a color tool extension that links your browser workflow to Pantone's color system. When paired with the Pantone Color Match Card on iOS, it calibrates your device camera for accurate color measurement and snaps colors to the nearest Pantone shade. Use it to discover, measure, and share color palettes on the go, with Pantone Colors kept up to date and accessible via sRGB and Hex values, image extraction, and cross-referencing within the Pantone system.

Premium features (currently free during rollout) add CMYK and Lab* values, color conversions between spaces, multi-palettes and team collaboration, nuanced color nudges, and color harmonies. Pantone Connect spans mobile, web, and Adobe Creative Cloud extensions, so colors found on the move can be applied back in your studio. Accounts are free to start; Premium accounts can be activated on Pantone's site. For details, review Pantone's End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy.

User Reviews

Reviews are overwhelmingly negative. Repeated issues include login/sign-in loops, the app failing to open or crashing, and difficulty using the Color Match/Measure features. Users report device compatibility problems with newer iPhones and a cumbersome UI. Color matching results are inconsistent, sometimes producing wrong shades. Pricing concerns, billing surprises, and a perceived loss of value from Studio drive most complaints, along with a lack of responsive customer support.
Pros
Cons
  • Frequent login/sign-in failures and loops across multiple reviews
  • App often won’t open, crash, or fail to load
  • Incompatibility with newer iPhone models (e.g., iPhone 14 Pro/15 Pro) and lack of timely updates
  • Color matching is unreliable or inaccurate (shades off, off-color results)
  • Pricing and subscription changes, paywalls, and dissatisfaction with moving from Studio to Connect

I used pantone studio recently to discover it being discontinued. The new pantone connect legitimately sucks. Harder user interface, more difficult for no reason. I still have studio installed before it was removed from the store. I would take a note from your old app, which is ten times better. I can’t even figure out how to do the pantone color swatch on photos like previous, where your photo has the four color swatches on top of your photo as an overlay. It was super cute, and I don’t understand why the need for AI has to ruin a good thing.

As I said in the title, this app is not free. Don’t be fooled by nothing be listed under “in app purchases” like I was. You cannot access the app without registering an account. Once logged in, you are prompted to sign up for a 7 day trial. I should’ve pulled the color swatches online. Much less hassle & free.

It’s colors. I have to pay to see colors? I can understand paying for other additional features, but I have to pay to see all of the colors? This is dystopian. Defeats the purpose of the app. This is why everything sucks.
