User Reviews

Overall, Color Portfolio receives persistent complaints about inaccurate color matching and weak visual rendering, frequent bugs and crashes, and a difficult UX with missing essential features (lack of palette saving/organization, inability to upload personal photos, limited color decks). While a few users find it useful for visualizing options and sharing ideas with family, the reliability issues dominate and many want it to function more as a planning tool rather than a storefront.
Pros
  • Helps visualize color options on photos for planning.
  • Some users find the interface user-friendly and helpful for sharing ideas with family.
  • Useful for showing color ideas to kids and discussing room design.
Cons
  • Inaccurate color matching and rendering; Color Capture often produces wrong results and colors appear too light or off from real paint.
  • Frequent bugs and instability, including crashes and features not working (e.g., photo uploads, saving).
  • Poor usability and missing essential features: no palette creation/organization, inability to upload or manage personal photos, missing colors in paint decks, and limited search by paint number.
  • Perceived focus on shopping over planning, making it less useful as a home color planning tool.

The color visualizer is fine if you have a lot of spare time on your hands to play with a painting app. There’s no intelligence built in. You have to use little tedious painting tools.

This app is impossible to use. Cannot view ANY paint samples in my room at all. After 2 hrs, I give up.

I used this app to try and get the paint color of my new apartments living room to touch up the paint where I spackled a hole in the wall and now I’m down $50 on paint after 3 trips to different paint stores because the “Color Capture” feature in the app was wrong all 3 times I tried it and I now have to go back again to get more paint to fix the small paint job which now turned into a big paint job. Look elsewhere if you need to find out what color your paint is.
