User Reviews

European War 6: 1914 is praised for its engaging strategy, solid mechanics, and surprisingly good graphics for a free title, and its educational, history‑leaning gameplay. However players repeatedly report serious balance and design flaws: aggressive AI behavior in conquest with improper unit spawns, and several scenarios (notably 1918) that feel unwinnable or overly difficult; frequent historical inaccuracies; the monetization model with premium currency and paywalls for generals and supplies; limited diplomacy options; and long, unskippable tutorials. Requests for more nations, campaigns, a sandbox mode, and better save handling have also appeared.
Pros
  • Engaging strategy gameplay with solid mechanics.
  • Graphics are surprisingly good for a free game.
  • Educational and historically themed content.
  • Ad-free and playable offline.
Cons
  • AI balance and spawning issues in conquest mode (unrealistic unit spawns and erratic AI behavior).
  • Certain scenarios (notably the 1918 campaign) feel unwinnable or overly difficult.
  • Historical inaccuracies in battles and generals (e.g., Grant at Bull Run).
  • Monetization and grind: premium currency, paywalls for generals, and heavy reliance on spending.
  • Diplomacy options are too limited; peace deals and diplomacy need more breadth.

If it requires 18 rounds, and i can attack in the eiteenth round, why cant i finish? I had Gettysburg and needed to take one city in the last round. I attacked with a car and killed the troop and the city health was at 0 but i “failed” even though my car could move after, which would mean i could take the city in the 18 round and win but I couldn’t. I swear all these strategy games would feel way better if I didn’t have to rush claiming important points or fighting. You have only so many rounds before it’s an automatic fail… it’s dumb when it’s all the time. Some missions would be understandable but they need to make one where you can turn off the round limit before failure. It’s not enjoyable having to panic call units cause you have 4 rounds left cause your AI companions suck at pushing 50 percent of the time. You’re pretty much gambling everytime.
