User Reviews

ChordChord is praised as a handy tool for quick chord progressions and arpeggiated playback that aid songwriting and melodies. However, recurring issues include audio problems, crashes, unreliable saving, and troublesome billing with auto-renewals and hard paywalls. Additional usability gaps like limited song layouts and no undo/history worsen the experience. For many users, these ongoing reliability and pricing problems outweigh the potential benefits on mobile.
Pros
  • Useful tool for quick chord progressions and songwriting.
  • Arpeggiated chord playback is a standout feature.
  • Helpful for finding melodies and writing lyrics.
  • Simple and straightforward to use.
Cons
  • Audio problems: no sound or inconsistent audio in the app.
  • Crashes and stability issues.
  • Unreliable saving: progressions disappearing or not saving.
  • Billing and subscription frustrations: auto-renew charges, refunds denied, and aggressive paywall prompts.
  • Usability gaps: limited song layouts and lack of undo/history and cramped keyboard UI.

I never normally write reviews, but I purchased the premium a year ago and rarely used the application afterwards as I’d found much better apps and systems for finding good chord progressions. I didn’t know there was an auto renewal process and didn’t receive any lead up emails about it (I forgot this app existed), normally good companies will send follow up emails to customers who they see aren’t interacting with their product much and also a notice for auto renewal. I got none of that and was charged $99, I saw this on my bank statement the following day and emailed them asking if I could please refund and cancel as I haven’t used this app in so long and I had no idea about the auto renewal. Per their policy they don’t allow this even if it’s by one day, I’m cancelling immediately and I’m so irritated that they wouldn’t even allow me to pay for this month and refund the rest. It’s how these companies get you, and don’t truly care for their customers experience whatsoever.

Bought the premium subscription to transfer midi data. Saved 10 progressions that I would end up using. Open app the next day to start the process and all the progressions are gone. Went straight to cancel the subscription, are you kidding me?
