User Reviews

Frontier X app is praised for delivering rich, actionable heart data (ECG, HR, HRV) and reliable, useful metrics that many users share with clinicians; athletes highlight training insights and peace of mind. The app is described as easy to use and capable of sharing data with doctors, with strong data quality. However, multiple reviews flag significant downsides: disruptive mid-workout upgrade prompts, ongoing Bluetooth and connectivity bugs, occasional start/stop issues, limited features (no interval training) and concerns about price and AI subscriptions, plus some support/UX frustrations. Overall, powerful health data with usability and reliability problems that can hinder workouts.
Pros
  • Comprehensive ECG/heart data with HR and HRV that users can analyze and share with clinicians.
  • Easy-to-use app with accessible metrics and clear data presentation.
  • High data quality and medical usefulness; cardiologists find ECG data helpful.
  • Athletes benefit from training insights and peace of mind.
  • Long battery life (around 24 hours) and fast charging.
Cons
  • Disruptive mid-workout forced upgrades that interrupt sessions and can corrupt data.
  • Persistent Bluetooth/connectivity issues and occasional start/stop failures.
  • Buggy UX and stability problems; app occasionally fails to load live ECG or start activities.
  • Missing features and integration gaps (no interval training; uneven data transfer with Garmin; limited interoperability).
  • Pricing concerns and AI subscription value, plus variable support experience.

I have AFIB. This app provides great feedback on your improvement metrics. Only complaint is it can mess up your Bluetooth connections.

The app makes it look like if you pay for premium they will show advanced metrics like VO2 max. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. Maybe it unlocks on your next session after paying. Very disappointed. Also no way to change alerts after activity starts. No warning for wearing the sensor upside down. For the price the need to do better.
