Overview

Features & Capabilities

Grow Credit helps users build credit for free by using subscriptions charged to a Grow MasterCard and reported to all three bureaus. With 700k+ downloads and recognition in Forbes Fintech 50 (2022), it supports users with no prior credit history and offers no hard pull.

Getting started is easy: apply for Grow MasterCard, link your bank, and add subscriptions (Netflix, Disney+, Spotify, etc.). Subscriptions are billed to Grow and debited monthly, and progress is reported to all three bureaus. Four plans—Build Free, Build Secured, Grow, Accelerate—offer different credit lines and monthly limits, plus free FICO score and bank-level security.

User Reviews

Many reviews start with praise for Grow Credit as a helpful way to build credit and pay subscriptions, but the bulk of feedback centers on reliability problems after a corporate takeover and app updates: login crashes, being redirected to the web, payment processing failures, and late reporting to credit bureaus. These issues are worsened by slow support, outages, and pricing misalignments. Overall, the service is viewed as unreliable and risky for users trying to build credit.
Pros
  • When it works, Grow Credit provides a convenient way to pay subscriptions and potentially build/boost credit.
  • The concept of a secured credit line that can help users access credit through monthly payments.
  • Historically described as a helpful asset for credit growth when functioning correctly.
Cons
  • Major reliability issues after updates/takeover: frequent login crashes, redirects to the website, and intermittent 'processing' delays.
  • Payment processing failures and late reporting to credit bureaus, with several users reporting canceled or missed subscriptions.
  • Pricing inconsistencies and higher-than-advertised monthly fees, plus very low spending limits.
  • Poor or unresponsive customer support and slow issue resolution.
Recent reviews
The company does not care at all. They keep on saying their system issues and it’s down. I got worried and frustrations that it’s gonna report late payments while I’m trying to fix my credit and all these responses are total lies. It’s been going on for a long time, they do not really care. Nobody knows what’s going on at the company and I think it’s time I cancel.
